Financial Literacy Important to Wellbeing

April is Financial Literacy Month. At Pittsford Federal Credit Union, we remain passionate about financial literacy and education. As a credit union that began in a classroom, it is has been an important piece of who we are.

The definition of financial literacy is the knowledge and skills that enable people to make informed financial decisions. Included in that is budgeting, earning, borrowing, loans, planned spending, and investments.

We truly want our members to be well-informed about finances so that they can be financially fit. Financial health is very important, as financial stress can lead to both physical and mental distress.

Please use this month to do a financial wellness check for yourself. Make sure you are aware and up to date on your finances. If you would like to learn more about financial literacy, please check out our tools that may help. At PFCU we offer several online resources, calculators, and digital tools that provide a convenient way to help members stay on top of their spending, saving, and budgeting. We also have in-branch resources. Leveraging technology to enhance financial literacy through mobile apps and interactive resources makes it easier for individuals to learn about personal finance on their own terms and at their own pace.
