Digital Banking Security is Top Priority

Pittsford FCU is committed to protecting your personal information. We also want to help you keep your confidential information secure in all of your digital banking activities.

Online Banking Security

Our digital banking services, which includes Internet and Mobile Banking, employs several different security mechanisms to protect you: encryption of information being sent between your devices and the digital banking servers to prevent unintended exposure of your personal information, multi-factor authentication to reduce the risk of threat actors gaining access to your accounts, and a fraud detection system to identify anomalous activity. In addition to these security features put in place by Pittsford FCU, here are some tips on keeping your information secure:

Protect Your Passwords

  • Create difficult passwords that are not easy to guess. They should be composed of numbers, letters (uppercase and lowercase), and special characters (when possible).
  • Avoid using personal information for your passwords, such as birth dates, social security number, and names of pets or children.
  • Pittsford FCU will never ask for your digital banking password under any circumstances. Please do not share your password with others as fraudsters will try to obtain digital banking passwords by e-mail, letter, or phone call. If you have any concerns of the validity of caller, please hang up and contact us directly at 800-836-8010.
  • It is also good practice to change your passwords regularly and consider using a reputable password manager.

More Tips to be Safe, Secure

  • Be cautious with whom you share any personal information, including usernames, passwords, social security number, account numbers, or date of birth.
  • Don’t provide any of your personal information to any websites that do not use encryption or other secure methods to protect it.
  • Avoid using public computers to access your Credit Union accounts.
  • Research any application (app) before downloading it. Fraudsters use a tactic where they will create a malicious app with a name that resembles that of the financial institution. This is designed to trick users into believing the service is legitimate to capture your digital banking username and password. Be sure to download official mobile banking apps from the appropriate app store. If you have any doubts about the validity of any of our websites or mobile banking applications, please do not hesitate to contact us.
  • Avoid lending your phone to others with the Mobile Banking application opened to prevent their access to your personal financial accounts.
